Both cities are located on the banks of the Rio Bueno, which drains into Lake Ranco, about 67 km from the capital Valdivia (surrounded by the Rio Calle Calle, Valdivia and Cau Cau Cruces) and 40km from the south of Osorno. The architecture preserves the heritage and influence of German colonization d times. Among the attractions of the cities include Fort San José de Alcudia, museums with past samples Mapuche and colonizer, home equity as the Mansion House Furniel, also known as the Palace of Tears, Churches of the early 1900's and of course the parade grounds where every summer you can see samples and craft folk.
From La Union to the coast is accessible less traveled roads leading to beaches and Hueicolla or the new National Park Coastal Larch. Rio Bueno is accessed from Lake Ranco and the Andes, to the communities of Lake Ranco and Futrono.
