Valdivia's history can be reviewed in its museums and urban forests. Southern University in Isla Teja, contains museums that recall the original peoples of this region and the process of colonization, the city's history, natural history and contemporary art. If we talk about forests, Valdivia stands out for its extensive network of green areas with parks botanical exotic and native species. Is the most complete botanical garden in the country, its 10 acres are nearly 1,000 plant species (native and exotic) trees, shrubs and plants. Highlights a sample of almost 90% of native trees Valdivia climate. Its main objective is to contribute to the conservation of species of Chilean flora and especially those of known Valdivian Temperate Forest. It is located along the river connecting the Cau Cau River Crossings to the Calle Calle River, originating at the confluence of river Valdivia.

The park has an area of 4.5 hectares largely covered by various species of great ecological value. Along with these green areas have implemented other recreational character which are divided into a multipurpose, educational, ecological, picnic area, fitness, playground, nursery.

The Arboretum of the Institute of Forestry, Faculty of Forestry at Southern University was established in 1971. It is the largest of its kind in the country due to the great diversity of plant species it houses. It has an area greater than 60 ha. and more than 500 different native and exotic trees. We can travel through beautiful trails. In its 60 acres houses a collection of over 5000 tree species both Chilean and foreign. Here are:
